Saturday

11:11! Make a wish! (I realize it'll be later once I publish this, and even later when you read it, but still make a wish!) Anyway, let's jump right into it with the... YOU-KNOW-THE-WORDS!!

1) Usually I try to do my Big Three in chronological order, but today I'm going to go in reverse. So I just finished a 4 hour study session with a friend. I'm feeling a lot better for my math final, but still need to review a few more topics. I spent most of this morning/later afternoon studying, so now I'm going to take a break until tomorrow (i.e. MORE study day!!)

2) This afternoon, I took an hour break and went to the Treehouse Society winter crafts event. It was pretty fun, we made snowflakes and pipecleaner snowmen. It was a nice change of pace from studying.

3) Then, or in this case, before that- I woke up at 6 to see a lunar eclipse. It was just at the beginning of the eclipse so the moon looked tinted yellow. It was suppose to turn red at 8, but that was when the sun rose.

Anyway, that was pretty much my day. Tomorrow will be more studying. Stay tuned!!

Thursday: On Friday!

Okay, so I just realized my last blog post said Thursday, when it was- in fact- Tuesday. So this is the for-real Thursday post. With that bit of business out of the way, let's get into the BIG THREE.

1) Wednesday morning I had an interview for the Head ELA position. I think it went fairly well, but I'm more interested in the Lead ELA job. The Heads have a lot more work/responsibility and there are only 2 of them for the whole department, whereas there are about 10 Lead ELA's and it's more of a teaching role than managing role. Either way though, if I get another ELA job, that would be awesome! Fingers crossed. Oh! And that reminds me of something I'd like for Christmas. A nice, (leather) folder for holding resumes. When I go to interviews, I just have a paper folder which doesn't look as professional. Maybe something along the lines of this: http://www.amazon.com/Markings-C-R-Gibson-Executive-MJ14-9070/dp/B003YDYO9S/ref=pd_sbs_op_3

What would you like for christmas?

2) Thursday is Reading Day (the day of no classes before Finals). However, I still had class. I went into Time Arts for the final critique. I had to go in a couple hours early to finish my video, but it ended up being pretty good!

3) And after that, I've just been studying a whole bunch. Much fun. I have discrete mathematics and programming on monday and tuesday, respectively. Anyway, I'm gonna get back to that. Bye now!!

Thursday: On Thursday!

Hello, post actually on time! That's one for the history books! Anyway, let's get right into it. Big Three, here we go!

1) This morning I had my leadership final. It wasn't too difficult, and I got an A+ on the last midterm, so hopefully did just as well this time! There were about 35 multiple choice, 20 fill in the blanks, and 10 short essay writings. I hope I did well, and even if not, I think I could still come out of the class with an A. Now the class is entirely over, which is kind of a shame because I liked that class...

2) Today was my last day of my Tuesday/Thursday classes. In my last ECE 190 class, my teacher brought cookies! And then we had a last lecture on program checking and authentication. It won't be on the final, but still interesting stuff.

3) And then was my last Interaction class, where we went over critiques for our last projects. And in Time Arts, we're technically having one more class (though it's illegal since it'll be on Reading Day). Reading Day is supposed to be the one day of no classes before finals. In Time Arts, we used today as a work day and will have our "class" on reading day be presentation/critique.

The year's really wrapping up. Just a few more projects and then finals and I'm done. Whoa!!

Sunday's post: Late

Okay, for the past few days, I've been using Ubuntu (as opposed to Windows). So I don't see s2hconnect when I start up my web browser. I'll add that to my home pages on this operating system and (hopefully) tomorrow's update will be on time! Regardless, let's get on with the... BIG THREE!!

1) Yesterday (Sunday), I worked all afternoon from 11 am to 6 pm. I'm an ELA (Engineering Learning Assistant). So my job is to help out first-year engineers as they work on their group projects. With the year wrapping up, we had an expo to showcase their projects. It was kind of like a science fair for engineers! And plus, they had free food! I got mini-sandwiches and these spinach filled baked bites. They were really good (especially after missing lunch!)

2) Last night, I went to the lab to work on my machine problem with a friend. We had to go through 3 computer labs before we could find one that was free. We worked on it for 3.5 hours, and made some progress, but it was still really hard.

3) I got my test back in discrete mathematics today. I got a B+, and with a curve, it might be even better. I mainly need to focus on doing better than the rest of the class, and while I'm not at the top, I'm still in the upper percentile.

Alright, well, I'm going to get to studying for my leadership final tomorrow. Bye now!!

Not on a good path

It's the first week coming back and I already missed a day! Don't let this be a determinant for the rest of the semester. Anyway, to make up for it, I'm going to do the BIG SIX (I remember that was only suppose to be a one-time deal, but we need to use it again)!! As per usual, answer with a You Pick Two for comments. Alright, here we go!

1) On Wednesday morning, I met with Barry Pittendrigh again and secured my job for Scientific Animations Without Borders (SAWBO). I also found out it will be a paid position. I wanted to just do animation and have something to put on my resume/portfolio, but pay is even better!

2) On Thursday for Interaction class, we went over creating our own websites. We already learned designing and programming (HTML, CSS, PHP, and such), but now we went over registering, web hosting, etc. It was pretty interesting lecture, but I think it might be a little while before I get my own domain and website because the yearly/monthly costs are kinda pricey...

3) And Thursday night I went to a LeaderShape orientation. LeaderShape is the one-week leadership workshop at the end of winter break. I come back to school and then spend the whole week on personal development and leadership. It should be pretty fun!!

4) On Friday, I spent most of the afternoon working in open lab. I basically got paid to sit in a lab and do my homework. Pretty nice job!

5) Today was another huge work day. We needed people in the lab almost the whole day, so I was in there from 11 to 5. Good thing is between yesterday and today, I made over $100!

6) And besides all that, finals are coming up, so I've been studying for those. My first one is for leadership this Tuesday. Alright, I'm gonna go back to work. Tomorrow's update will be on time! Bye!!

Wednesday, November 30, 2011

So this is starting up again.

Well, folks, we were gone for a week and now we're back! So let's get this show on the road and jump right into the... BIG THREE!!

1) This morning I had Leadership class and we wrapped up all our leadership theories. We also got back our papers and I got an A on mine with a comment that I should become a writer, haha. I'm pretty happy about that!

2) This afternoon for Interaction class we attended a friend's performance/visual art show. She designed a program to read user input mouse drawings and then listens to the commands, then draws them herself on a canvas. There was somewhat of a disconnect between what the user intended and how she would interpret it, but that was part of the meaning behind it. She wanted to go into man vs. machine, how machines follow instructions exactly as you tell them, but people have some variance and disconnect. Overall, it was a very interesting piece.

3) Tonight I had my last midterm of the semester in Discrete Mathematics. It wasn't too difficult, but there were still a few challenging questions. Fingers crossed and hopefully I did well! Now my main focus is finishing up my projects and then finals!

Alright, well, tomorrow (er... today) at 9 I have a meeting, so I'm going to get to bed. Good night!!

Last Post Before Thanksgiving Break. Video Style!

S2H Video Blogpost

So this is the first ever video blog post! It's kinda weird since I usually don't speak directly to the camera so I had no idea what to do with my eyes. Anyway, hope you enjoy and I'll be seeing one of my dear readers in just a few days!!

Tuesday on Time

Hello out there to all of my readers! This post is actually on time! How about that? Is it magic? Did I use a time machine? No. The real answer is a lot less fantastic: I just happen to be posting on time. So without any more introductions, let's get onto the... BIG THREE. Whoa, let's go!

1) Paper - I finished up my paper and submitted it yesterday. Tomorrow I'm going to be speaking with my leadership coach about my personal development plan in order to get it perfected by the end of the month (It's due December 1).

2) Worked out - Last night I worked out with my roommmate and another friend. That night, I went to bed feeling really sore, which is a good, yet bad feeling! I love/hate it. I'm not working out tonight, but hopefully if I finish my next paper, I'll be able to work out tomorrow night.

3) Interaction - Today in Interaction class we went over PHP (which actually stands for PHP Hypertext Preprocessor). It's used on websites to fill out email forms, take surveys, etc. It's actually pretty interesting stuff!!

Anyway, now I'm gonna go on a comment-spree on one of my reader's blogs and then do my math homework. Bye now!!

Weekend Top Six

I told myself I wouldn't make one of these again. It was a one time deal, not ever meant for mass production. Yet here we are. And for that, I apologize. But without extra rationalizing, let's just hop to it. TOP SIX. GO.

1) ECE lab - Most Fridays, I actually don't have to go to the ECE lab because I always finish it on time outside of class and can submit it. This week though, I needed to know who my section TA is since I had to email him. The lab was really empty though! There were only about ten other students there (while at the beginning of the year it was packed!)

2) Bowling - Saturday afternoon, Brandon, Chris, and I went bowling. I did decently, not great. I got 116 the first game and 85 the second (strange, since I usually do better the second time!)

3) Flier - I finished up my animation flier this weekend as well. Here's a picture of it!

4) Work-out - This morning I woke up and decided to do a workout, it was a pretty good way to start the day!!

5) Personal Development Plan - For the greater part of this afternoon, I spent working on my personal development plan (PDP), which is an integral part of my leadership certificate. I still have a few more pages to write, but I'm almost done.

6) Sunday dinner - Tonight for dinner, some friends and I went to Noodles and Company. I got a Mediterranean penne rosa dish, which was really good!

As per usual, do a You Pick Two, to comment on. Bye and good night!

11/10/2011

One day away from 11/11/11! That is Veteran's Day, Armistice Day, the day Skyrim comes out, and the luckiest, make-a-wish day ever! 11:11:11 11/11/11!

Anyway, in honor of the almost special day, I'm going to do the BIG THREE in binary! (Which doesn't make too much of a difference but still, let's go!)

1) This morning I woke up and guess what. I wasn't feeling sick anymore. It was kind of weird since usually when feeling sick, I have a few days of recovery to go back to feeling normal. But this time, one day I'm feeling completely terrible, and the next I want to go out for a run! So today, I was back to normal and feeling good again! =)

10) Tonight, after my time arts class, we went to this lecture where the speaker talked about 01SJ a city-wide event in San Jose. It's centered on interaction and combining art with technology, pretty neat stuff!

11) Then tonight I looked over my future classes and revised my four year plan... I'm not exactly looking forward to some of my future classes. They're gonna be really tough... Anyway though, some of them sound fun and interesting. And on that note, I'm gonna go back to homework, and then go to bed, good night!!

Tuesday Late Post

So still been feeling pretty sick lately, so that's been fun. Well, let's just jump right into the little thing we like to refer to as... The Big Three!

1. On Monday, there was a new This American Life episode. It was a rather opposite shift from the middle school episode. This one was centered on Steven Raucci, a maintenance worker who rose to power in a Hilter-like regime. It was still really interesting!

2. I missed my first, and hopefully only day of work, last Monday. I called in and said I didn't feel so great- which was true. My group then emailed me and told me what they were able to accomplish. At this point in the project, they are fairly self-sufficient so I don't need too much hand-holding.

3. This afternoon after I finished my classes, I went over to the McKinley health center to see if they could help at all. The nurse ran basic things (heartrate, blood pressure, etc.) And just asked me how I felt. In the end, they gave me some medicine to help relieve some of the symptoms, and this thing called a six-pack. In the six-pack are two things to gatorade, two cans of soup, and two cans of sprite. That's to help me rehydrate. Hopefully tomorrow things will be better! Fingers crossed.

Alright, bye now!!

No sun nor fun on a Sunday

Over the weekend, and even now, I've been getting progressively more sick. Not so much fun. My throat hurts, I have a headache, and feel dehydrated. I said on my status that it's kind of a Catch-22: My throat hurts because I'm dehydrated; but I can't drink so much because my throat hurts.

Well, anyway, let's get onto the Big Three (for yesterday!)

1) Sunday morning I stayed in bed for the most part, not feeling too great. I am not too fond of being sick, meh.

2) I ended up missing lunch, so around 3 I went out to get food. I decided to go to Panera Bread for soup, but a bowl of soup cost almost five dollars! So instead I walked an extra block to the grocery store and got one of the microwave, soup in a hand can. It was actually pretty good and only a buck fifty.

3) Then at night, I stayed in again and just worked on math and programming. Fairly relaxing day.

And I thought my sickness has been going away, but this morning I woke up and felt even worse. I'll give you an update tomorrow if it improves or not. Bye now!!

Saturday, November 5, 2011

A post on time?!

What is the world coming to?! I'm updating my Saturday post... ON SATURDAY! Anyways, onto the... BIG THREE! Let's go!

1) Last night a friend and I were gonna go out for food since we didn't get much for dinner. So we started out going to McDonalds which was about a mile off campus, but turns out that was closed so we had to walk all the way back to campus and ended up getting food at this Chinese place. The food ended up tasting pretty good but it was still very cold out!! Nice to be back and go to bed!

2) This afternoon I worked on programming and ECE stuff. Not so much fun, but at least I finished up my lab!

3) Then tonight, in honor of November 5th, some friends and I watched V for Vendetta. Alright on that note, I'm gonna go to bed. Good night, dear readers!!

Thursday Blog Post, a tad late...

Sorry for this being kind of late, I went out to a talk last night (which I will tell you about), and then I started working on homework and went to bed before updating. Well, anyway, intro's aside, let's get onto the BIG THREE!!

1. This American Life - The other night, I was on the phone with one of my dear readers and we started talking about This American Life. I started describing the Middle School episode- the one I was currently in the middle of. And I told the story about the Mimi's, which I took as middle school girls being conceited and pompous. But after listening through the whole story, I see them as creative girls trying to envision a better life for themselves. I suppose this taught me the lesson of never tell a story before hearing the whole thing!

2. Ageism Presentation - Yesterday (Thursday) morning, my group had to give our presentation in class about Multicultural Awareness. Our topic specifically was Ageism in the workplace and leadership. I think we did very well, and people especially enjoyed an activity. We had some people randomly selected as employers and the rest of the class were employees. And the object was everyone had to get hired for these particular jobs, and ideally each company should have a broad spectrum of different ages. Things went pretty well, except one of our group members didn't even show up to class. We still did the presentation without her, but I wonder how this would affect her grade...

3. You, Me, and AI - Last night I went to the talk I mentioned up above. It was about artificial intelligence and raised a bunch of social/philosophical questions. I thought it was going to be a more technical talk and discuss where we are and going with AI. But it was actually more about the religious and social ramifications of AI. Still a very interesting talk though!

Okay, until tomorrow, bye now!

Posty-post!!

[DISCLAIMER TO ONE OF MY SPECIAL READERS OUT THERE!] Please send me any of the pics of me teaching animation classes. Much obliged.

[AND NOW BACK TO OUR REGULAR SCHEDULED BLOGGING.]

Heya, sorry for being half a day late, let's jump right in. Blog update!!

1) On Halloween night, Treehouse Society had a party so I went to that for a few hours. It was mostly hanging out and talking. And then we broke up into groups and went out trick-or-treating. It was fun to act like a kid again and the houses seemed to enjoy visitors. I have some pics on facebook of me in costume. Props if you know who I am!

2) And now, the reason for missing last night's update. I had a test in ECE 190. It wasn't terribly difficult, but I still ran out of a bit of time at the end. Hopefully I can get partial credit and even so, I got most of the questions right.

3) And the second reason for late update, after my exam, I had a lot of discrete mathematics homework I had to do. So I stayed up until 2 or so, and then woke up and finished the rest this morning.

Well, that's all, folk(s)! Until next time... Bye now!!

Sunday Post

That is perhaps the most clever title I have ever come up with! And now for the most clever intro I have ever come up with. (Please note the massive amounts of sarcasm). Haha, but anyway, that aside, let's go onto the... BIG THREE!!

1) Review Session: Today I went to a review session which was not really helpful at all. The person running it was an undergrad who had some idea what he was talking about, but not enough to have a real grasp on the material or help us prepare for the exam. A group of friends and I ended up just going back to Hendrick House and studying on our own, and now, after I'm done writing this blog post, I'll go back to studying!

2) Dinner: Tonight, a group of friends and I went out to Cravings for dinner. Cravings, I probably mentioned the place before, is a Chinese restaurant that serves cheap, but good food! Although I had to leave dinner early to go to the third point on the Big Three.

3) Group Project: At 7 tonight I met up with some people in my leadership class to work on our Multicultural project. We have to talk about ageism and how it applies to the workplace and leadership. We got a lot done and I think we'll be pretty well off for our presentation on Thursday.

Alright, now back to work drone! (That is referring to me!). I mean- back to studying. Bye now!!

Saturday's Post

Sorry about the lateness. I'll do another post later tonight. Maybe instead of S and T days, I should do SMWF (Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Friday) updates. And then I'll be late on those too and it'll become MTTS days. Math question: How many more iterations of delaying posts each day will it take to bring it back onto proper schedule? (I'll post an answer later today for the Sunday post).

Well, anyway, onto the Big Three!!

1) On Friday night, I went to a friend's engineering halloween party, which was pretty fun. I talked to a lot of people and got into a long discussion about water and the world, it was pretty interesting!

2) And all of Saturday was a study day, so I spent half of it studying by myself in the lounge and the other half studying with other friends in the class. I got a lot of programming done and feel more confident for the test. Today will be a study day, too, and later on there will be office hours to answer any additional questions.

3) Eli, the former head of Treehouse Society, graduated last year and now goes to grad school in NYC. So over the weekend, she came to visit. So a bunch of Treehouse Society people and I went out to dinner and then hung out afterwards. It was nice to catch up with everyone again and afterwards we baked cookies (but forgot a key ingredient), so it turned out more like brownies. Still tasted good though!

Anyway, I'll post another later this evening. Bye now!!

Post Number 50!

Wahoo! Post number 50!! The big five-oh, let's go!

1) Yesterday we celebrated one of my friend's birthday. We got him a cake and sang in the cafeteria so that was pretty fun!

2) Today in leadership class we talked about Transformational leadership, the ability to bring people to their full potential and inspire them. We also watched a video on Michelle Obama and another on Steve Jobs, both charismatic and inspiring leaders. Someday I hope to be as articulate and as great of a leader as they are.

3) Tonight I finished up some essays for this LeaderShape workshop, a week long event where we work and learn more about leadership. I'll turn in my application tomorrow and hopefully get accepted.

Well, I'm gonna go to bed. Good night, dear readers. Happy 50 Posts, and here's to 50 more!

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Late is great! No it's not. It's late.

Yeah, as per the title, this blog post is late. Apologies around, let's get down to brass taxes. And that means- da da da DAAA!! Big Three! Let's go!!

1) On Monday I went to two meetings. The first one was with a Genetic Professor talking about this project: Scientific Animations Without Borders. In it, I'll be working on animations teaching how to do agriculture, prevent diseases, and other things to developing countries. The meeting was a mix between info-meeting and interview, but I think I'll be able to work on the project since they're always looking for talented people.

2) And the second meeting had to do with my Leadership Certificate, so this talked about the next step: creating a Personal Development Plan. That just outlines how I want to improve myself and my goals for school and beyond. Over the weekend I'll work on it, and over the next few weeks, I'll be refining it with my leadership coach.

3) For a lot of yesterday and after my classes today, I was in the art computer lab working on some videos for my interaction and time based art classes. It's been fun, but still a lot of work to get it all done.

Alright, I'm gonna get back to work on other homework. Check again with you readers tomorrow, bye!!

Sunday, October 23, 2011

Post on the 7th or 1st day of the week, depending on the country calendar.

It'sa Sunday. It'sa blog post! Let'sa go!

1) Today I went over to the Quigley's for service. It was actually pretty good. If you didn't see it, In Jin Nim wasn't speaking, instead Reverend Shanker gave the sermon. He talked about unity and love, and coupled it with several anecdotes from his life, so it was interesting. Afterwards, Mrs. Quigley, their son Joshua, and I went over to this elderly lady's house and helped rake her yard.

2) After that, I worked on homework and studied ECE 190 for about two hours. Not so much fun there, haha.

3) And then tonight, Steve and I went out to go swimming. And after we were both dead tired, we went out to Cravings- Chinese food- for dinner. Food tastes so much better after a difficult work out. And since I haven't swam in a long time, I was using muscles I rarely use. Now I'm going to finish up some stuff and go to bed early (i.e. before midnight).

Bye now, dear readers!!

Pah-pah-pah POST!

Hey there! There are two ways to go into the water: you can step in, inch by inch as you adjust to the water, OR you can just jump right in. With this blog post, we're going to go with the latter! (Though, by using this lengthy introduction, ironically it's actually the former.) Anyway, BIG THREE!

1) Last night, I hung out with friends and we watched this independent film called Garden State. It was a romantic-comedy type film, and they had a really great soundtrack to it. I really enjoyed it! (It also had a little cameo with the actor who plays Sheldon from Big Bang theory!)

2) This afternoon, I had to film some stuff for both of my art classes. One was recording the different gestures for my user interface. I'm not actually designing an MP3 player, just gestures to control it. The second film was a dream sequence for my Time Arts class. I got some friends to help out and we got almost everything done, so I should be ready to move onto editing and post-production. Woo!

3) Tonight, a bunch of friends and I drove off campus to go through this corn maze. Instead of just trying to go from point A to point B, you had to find 8 different checkpoints hidden throughout the maze. It was actually a lot of fun, but as the night went on, it got a lot chillier. Still though, it was a great halloween-esque event!

Alright, I'm going to sleep. Bye now!!

Thursday, October 20, 2011

Terribly sorry for missing Tuesday, Double Post today!

I don't know if you care about rationalizing or not, but I've been extremely busy with homework and writing essays for an application so I missed Tuesday. But that makes today special. You know why? For the first, and only time, I introduce to you- dear readers- (Drum roll please...) THE BIG SIX!! (Gasps!) Here are six different events/things and, similar to Panera Bread fashion, you pick two! to comment on. Here we go!

1) Yesterday (Wednesday), I had my job again. My group actually started making substantial progress in their work. They're the group making a backpack that could also function as a desk. For the past two days, they were just sitting around not really doing too much because they were waiting on supplies to come in, but now that they arrived, they're actually buckling down and working. And while they working is good for the project, it makes my job a lot easier (since I don't have to direct as much).

2) After my job I had math class. It's starting to get a lot more challenging and more difficult to keep up, but I'm still trying to stay on top of it. I was able to answer a couple questions in class though, so yay to that!

3) On Wednesday night, Treehouse Society had it's cartoon and fingerpainting event! It was a lot of fun just to put my stresses aside and just paint. I created this story of two people who hated eachother, but were turned into a giraffe and a turtle by a wizard. Then they have to traverse the lands (i.e. the canvas) to turn back to normal. People seemed to like my story and suggest I make a children's book out of it. Anyway, that event was fun!

4) Now the reason why my Tueday update was late, my essays. I'm applying to be a resident adviser for Hendrick next year. I don't know if I can get it, since there's only two open spots, but it would be awesome if I got it! Fingers crossed.

5) Today in ECE 190, we finally started going over the stuff I didn't fully understand last year. Namely pointers. Now I get it a lot better. Pointers point to a location in memory, as opposed to containing some value.

6) And then this afternoon we had interaction class and I presented my gestures for my MP3 playing device. People seemed to overall like it, but still offered some critique to improve it. Now I have to record some videos of people using the gestures and present that for next class.

Alright, the one and only TOP SIX. Sorry about the lateness, but enjoy! Bye now!!

Stay alive, it's forty-five!! (Post, that is)

Yup, we've been at this for forty-five posts! Let's see how many more we can do, shall we? So without further abu, the BIG THREE!

1) I'm sure you've heard the Bruno Mars "Lazy Song" right? "Today I don't feel like doing anything, I just want to stay in my bed!" Well, that's kinda how I felt this morning and early afternoon. I was like a platypus, I didn't do much. But then I decided to go out and do stuff!!

2) On quad day (first weekend I got back), I got this plant. Now I've been watering and growing this plant, but now it's reached a point where it's too small for its current container (a little styrofoam cup.) So I got a two liter soda bottle and cut it to form a bigger container. Recycling FTW!

3) Tonight I went over to the Quigley's for a church service. It was pretty good and afterwards we had dinner and talked. Well, I'm gonna head to bed. Good night, dear readers!!

Some snazzy, catchy title

Hello there! Firstly, apologies for this being a couple hours late. But as a wise monkey once said, it doesn't matter! It's in the past! So moving onward, let's do the... BIG THREE!

1. Today a group of friends and I went to curtis orchards. Over there they have apples, pumpkins, basically everything when you think of "autumn." It was really fun, I didn't buy a bag of apples (mostly because it cost $9 for a little bag), but I "sampled" different varieties and they are really good. Then we went pumpkin picking. Now, I decided to either go the super huge, or super small route. No where in between. And since the super huge ones are more expensive, I got the tiniest pumpkin they got, and plan to carve it. Wish me luck! After the orchard, we went back to this grove area and had a fire with hotdogs. It was a good day. =)

2. But the day was not over yet! That night, two friends of mine who are in a band were playing a concert. So a group and I got together to help support them. My friends were actually pretty good- guitarist and bassist. But after they went on there was- can you guess it?- If you said death metal band, you'd be right. I don't really understand the appeal of loud unintelligible lyrics being screamed over drums and guitar. At least it wasn't as bad as the time we listened to death metal in the library, haha. (And by "we" I mean one of my readers and I.)

3. After the concert, we (And by "we" I mean the group of friends I was with) went back to a friend's apartment and we just hung out and watched anime. That's actually the reason for this post being so late. No access to a computer! Haha, well anyway, I'll catch up with you later today. Take care!!

Thursday, On time!

Whoa, stop the presses, stop the world! A post, at a reasonable honor, actually on time? Could it be true?! You better believe it! Cuz it's here. And the Big Three are coming at you right about... NOW!

1) Yesterday I updated my ipod to iOS5. On the plus side, I got a ton of new features, but on the negative side, I lost all my music... Which kinda sucks, a lot. But at least now it runs faster and when I redownload stuff, I'll only get the songs I want. One of the features I really like are the notifications and to-do list. That's actually helped me be more productive!

2) Today I got one of my tests back, the one for leadership. I got 149/150! I really hope my math test is that good. I'll find out tomorrow!

3) Today's my long day for classes. I had Leadership (which I got my test back, which I talked about), then ECE 190. In that, we talked about C functions. I understand it for the most part. Once we get into pointers, then I'll have to start paying a lot more attention! This afternoon I had Interaction, where we're working on a gesture based user interface for an MP3 player. It's pretty fun to see what others come up with. After that is Time Arts, we all made different soundscapes so today we did a critique on it.

Alright, now this is a shout-out to one of my most dedicated readers out there. Could you look through the pictures on the family external harddrive and email any pics that have myself teaching animation to me? Much thanks!! Until next time, bye now!

Getting back into the swing of things!

Hello, sorry for the late update! Last night I was really busy and then today I haven't yet had a chance to update, but now I do, so I will!

1) Last night, my roommate, a friend on our floor, and I went over to Taco Bell at midnight (since both of them haven't ever had it before!) And then Luai (my roommate) and I were talking until about 3 am or so. We talked just about life, our ambitions, values, that deep kinda stuff. It's good to get to know him more and become closer as opposed to just two people living in the same room.

2) Then after staying up so late, I forgot to set my alarm clock. And this morning I had an important adviser meeting that I couldn't miss. I woke up exactly 20 minutes before the meeting and was able to make it on time! I don't know if it's just my biological clock, or someone up there loves me, but it was really amazing!

3) This afternoon I had my ELA job and then discrete mathematics class. My group is still waiting for materials to come in, so today they were pretty unproductive. We went to the computer lab and they did some research online, but there wasn't overly too much for them to do. Hopefully next week they'll be ready to get down and do more work!

Anyway, sorry for the lateness and I'll be on time tomorrow. Bye now!!

Last post before coming home!

Alright, Thursday! That means blog update time, and blog update time means Big Three!! Let'sa go!

1) So I took my leadership test this morning. It was really, really easy. There might've been one or two questions I was a little weary on, but for the most part, I got them all. And I'm sure I got the big-point written sections correct, so happy for that!

2) Yesterday you undoubtedly heard that Steve Jobs passed away. He was a genius and visionary and will definitely be missed. I'm really curious on where Apple is gonna go from here. Steve was such an integral part of the company, yet they already have a structure set up to continue going on. I saw this movie- Pirates of Silicon Valley- last night in commemoration of Jobs. It was made in 1999, so the movie was before the booming success of Apple, but still was an interesting story on Apple and Microsoft's beginnings. Maybe we can watch it when I come home.

3) Then today is my long day for classes. They were pretty interesting. In Interaction we talked about gestures and semiotics (study of signs). Then in time arts we talked about sound and music. Interesting to think about all the background noise we ignore throughout most of the day.

Anyway, see you late tomorrow (or one of my readers, that is). Bye now!!

Some creative, witty title that has to do with Tuesday

I say, "Hey! I'll be gone today. But I'll be back coming around the way. Seems like everywhere I go, the more I see, the less I know. But I know. One thing. That I love you!"

Yes, that song has been stuck in my head all day. Pretty good song, so I'm not really complaining. Anyways, without further side- er... top- chatter. Let's go with the Big Three!!

1) On Monday, I had a test in Basic Discrete Mathematics. And it turned out to not be as bad as I thought it would be. A lot of the difficult concepts that I was kinda shakey on- Bernoulli Trials, Bayes's Theorem, geometric progression, etc.- weren't even on the test. So yay! to that. There were still a few kinda tricky problems, but I think for the most part, I did pretty well!!

2) Last night, Steve and I went for a run together. It was the first one in a while. It's still somewhat weird not being his roommate, but I'm making an effort to still stay connected. We did four miles, so that wasn't so bad. And we were able to talk and catch up. I want to try to find the perfect balance between meeting new people and keeping up with current friendships.

3) This Thursday, I have a Leadership test. I'm not so worried about it because a lot of the questions are fairly intuitive, but I've still been studying a bit for it. Hopefully it'll be like my math test and not as bad as expected!! =)

Anyway, I'm going to bed. Kinda surprised I actually made it in! With six minutes to spare!! Good night!

Suhn-dae

I apologize in advance if this post is kind of short. I've been studying all day and want to get to bed early (since I have a discrete mathematics test tomorrow), but I know I can't go to bed before writing the BIG THREE! So, here we go!

1) This morning I studied and had tea. My friend back home had given me a bunch of tea, but I haven't really been drinking it, so I thought to start now. =) It was really good, a kind of orange spice tea. I really enjoy chai tea though, that's my favorite.

2) Then this afternoon, 10 points to whoever can guess what I did! If you guessed homework and studying, you'd be right! I finished all my math homework, and then worked on my ECE lab. I still have to the the machine problem, but that's not due until Wednesday, so priorities, right? Sundays tend to be fairly productive days.

3) And then tonight for dinner, a bunch of friends and I drove out to McDonalds to eat. We wanted something fast and cheap, so what better place than the golden arches. Unfortunately, most of the conversation was about Supersize Me and the large calorie count of the food, so that wasn't too appetizing. We did get a couple of pieces for the monopoly game. I remember back when we used to be really into it.

Anyway though, time for bed. Talk to you, my dear reader(s) on Tuesday and I'll let you know how my test went. Bye now!!

Sah-tur-dae

Hello, it's Saturday which can only mean one thing! Update!! So here a-we a-go!

1. This afternoon was Arboretum Day with Treehouse Society. We all went to the Arboretum- some of my readers know the place- and played kickball, climbed trees, and went by the Japanese Zen Garden. My team won the kickball game, but it was really close! 12 to 11. And guess who made the winning point! =) Then when we climbed trees, guess who made it to the top! Well, I guess that wasn't a competition, but it was still an amazing view. And then we walked through the Japanese garden. It wasn't nearly at the level of the one we went to, but still was very pleasant. It was great seeing the Treehouse Society people again and just hanging out.

2. After the Arboretum Day, I spent the rest of the afternoon studying. I have two tests so I have to get ready for that. Tomorrow will be even more studying, so I have that to look forward to. Woo!!

3. Then tonight, some friends were going to an observatory a couple miles off campus with the astronomical society. They invited me to go with, so tonight we drove out to star gaze. I am so glad I went, the sky was absolutely amazing. It was unlike anything you see in the suburbs or even while camping. We had telescopes and were able to see jupiter! Along with three of its moons. It was a really amazing experience seeing the vastness of the universe and all it has to offer. Truly amazing.

Bye now, see you tomorrow!

What starts with an "L" and rhymes with Great? =)

I am terribly sorry for the lateness of this. I've been meaning to write it all day, but I've been out/busy with classes and works...

1) Today in programming studio we got our tests back. I didn't get as high as I would've liked, but I still got above average, which in college is always a good thing. They have yet to release the curve, but anyone in the top 60% get A-C's. Shooting for a B, but hopefully a high one!

2) This Monday I have my first Discrete Mathematics test, so I'll be studying a lot this weekend for that. Today was a review day. I got most of the first half stuff, but still need to work on the second half. People volunteered to do problems on the board for points on the test, so I already have 2 points working towards it. =)

3) Tonight I went to this Computer Exploitation workshop/competition. Some speakers from a hacking convention came and talked about security, hacking, and overall computer stuff. There was also a competition in jeopardy style with questions on x86 programming, debugging, etc. I originally came thinking I'll just have fun and learn, but then I started answering some of the questions right. They were really difficult questions too, on stuff I never learned before. And I ended the night with third place! And what's cooler is the top 3 get gift certificates! So yay to that!

Alright, I'm gonna go back to work, and tomorrow I'll actually update on time!!

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

On time, whoa!!

First to clarify, I typically mean see you next "woobadoowah" meaning next time there's a blog post. However, next weekend, I will actually be seeing you!! Okay, so with that bit o' business out of the way, onto the- THE BIG THREE!!

1) My ECE 190 test actually went better than I thought it would be. I studied a lot and we were given a cheat-sheet so I felt pretty well prepared. The actual test had 6 problems. The first one was just (1) binary representation so that was super easy, I think I got all points for it. (2) Memory was a bit challenging so I'm kind of worried for that. Then was (3) debugging which I think I pretty much got. After that was (4) finite state machines, which I also think I got all credit for. Then (5) LC-3 logic which was all true-false, so I think I got most of them, but a couple were a little weary. The last question- (6) Assembly Programming- was a little challenging, but I think I got it. Fingers crossed to a good grade! =D

2) I got back from my test around 9:30 last night, and then had a four page paper due this morning. So I was up until 3 or so working on that. I somewhat procrastinated on it, but wanted to spend as much time over the weekend studying for my test. And the paper wasn't that bad, just now I'm kinda tired. It was for leadership class and we had to write about different theories/approaches to leadership and discuss our personal growth.

3) After class today, some friends and I went rock climbing at the Athletic Recreation Center (ARC). It's been months since I last climbed, so I was a little out of it, but I managed to go up 3 5.8 level routes. (A 5.8 grade is about medium-hard difficulty).

Well, now I'm gonna get started working on other homeworks. Take care now!!

12:34 O'Clock

I know this is technically 34 minutes late, but I wanted to write this at 12:34. (But by the time this publishes, it'll probably be a bit later than that.) Okay, so with intro's out of the way, let's get onto the Big Three!!

1) This morning I woke up and had kind of a headache. I think lack of sleep and then inability to go back to sleep. So I took the morning kind of easy. Oh, I caught up and watched new HIMYM and new Office (and Community, but I don't know how much you care about that). HIMYM was really good, but you shouldn't watch it until you're caught up. Did you return Greg's DVDs by the way? And The Office, while not great, wasn't so bad. They reveal the new manager, and I won't spoil it in case you still plan to watch it. And Community, though you don't watch it, was really good. Real funny stuff on all three sides.

2) This afternoon I had a ECE review session which was overall pretty helpful. A couple more hours of studying will help, but I'm not so worried about the test.

3) Then tonight, some friends and I went to this Chinese restaurant for dinner. They don't serve dinner at Hendrick on Sunday nights. I got a fried rice dish and egg drop soup. They also give a LOT of food, so I have a lot of leftovers in my fridge.

Hope all is going well, and see you on Tuesday. I'll let you know how my test goes. Bye now!!

Saturday Study Day

Hello, dear readers. Actually updating on time, it's a Saturday. So without further ado, let's get onto, the Big Three! Woo!! (See that rhyming? =D)

1. What's the best way to start out a day? Oh, how about a fire drill at 6:30 am? Woke up with the alarm blaring and then had to get outside. First made sure my roommate and suitemates were on their way out. Then we all stood out in the early morning while the firefighters checked all the rooms to make sure everybody made it. Needless to say, it was not much fun.

2. Second thing is even more not as much fun! This afternoon I both worked on homework and studied. I have my first ECE 190 exam this Monday, so I've been studying a lot for that. I also helped one friend grade some papers. It was a little over an hour of work and he's paying me $25, so it's a pretty good deal! =)

3. I noticed I was highly sarcastic in the last two things, so this time I will be genuinely something good that happened. Yesterday I went out for lunch and found a new restaurant that's actually really good! It's called Noodles Doodles and has cheap, good noodles! Oh, and another good thing that happened yesterday, is I took a quiz I was worried about but turned out to be pretty easy. So yay to that!!

Alright, bye now. See you tomorrow!!

Friday, September 23, 2011

Almost the Weekend!!

It's almost the weekend, woo!! Do you know what that means? It means I can study cuz I's gots a midterm on Monday! Anyways, onto the Big Three! And... GO!

1. Alright, not much of anything super interesting or notable really happened today... I'll just run through each of my classes then. Starting out was Leadership, and we talked about Emotional Intelligence. That's how well you gauge your own emotions and those of others. After that was ECE 190, and we started talking about assembly language programming and input output devices (mouse, keyboard, monitor, etc.) Then I had lunch, and afterwards was Interaction Arts. My art classes today weren't so much fun though... We went through a class room critique on eachother's user interfaces, so not too exciting. Then in Time Arts, we just brainstormed short film ideas to do over the weekend. So yeah, those were my classes!

2. Last night I went to the programming lab to do some homework. It was a nice change of pace to just working in my room or the lounge. =)

3. And then tonight, I did (A) homework, (B) homework, or (C) homework? If you guess D, all of the above, you're right!! Haha, I did basic discrete mathematics, which is due tomorrow. We also have a quiz, so I'm gonna be getting to bed after this.

To all my readers out there, good night!!

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

So sorry, late post!!

Today is Wednesday, doing a post meant for yesterday, and for that, I'm sorry! To make up for it, I'm gonna do a... BIG FOUR!! (This will not become a thing, alright, just for this post. Tomorrow it's back to the Big Three.)

1) On Monday, I started my new job as an iEFX ELA (Illinois Engineering Freshman Experience Educational Learning Assistant). Wow, that's a mouth full... I can see why they use the initialism. On Monday, it was just introductions, we formed teams, and started thinking about potential projects for the semester. I'm in charge of a group that takes a pre-existing product and improves it somehow (makes it easier to use, more efficient, etc.) I don't have to actually do any work for it, but I just have to watch over and facilitate. Today was my second day and we did more brainstorming on what they want to do. So far they seem to be in a pretty good place, and looks like they have a good semester ahead of them!

2) Normally, I really love my art class. Time based arts deals with film and animation, which are really cool to work with, and a nice complement to my technical classes. However, yesterday in class, we saw this very long, very boring film called Russian Ark. It was all done in a single take- which was pretty impressive. But there was no plot, little character development, and could've been much shorter. Our next project is doing a film all in one take, but at least we're doing short films. I'll post whatever I do, once it's finished!

3) Today I had a lunch with other people in Informatics- information technology. We all had Jimmy Johns (for free!) and talked about the club and minor. Pretty interesting stuff and both art classes I'm taking right now apply for it as well.

4) And then this afternoon, I went for a run with a friend. She's training for the Chicago marathon, but I just went for fun. We only did 3 miles, which didn't feel so bad, and the weather was amazing today!

Alright, well, once again, sorry about the late update. I'll get Thursday on time. TTFN!!

Sunday, September 18, 2011

Not-so-Sunny Sunday

Rain, rain, go away, come again some other day. Yeah, so today's a pretty rainy day. Doesn't mean it can't be a good day with plenty of stuff to update for the- you guessed it- BIG THREE!!

1) This morning, Mrs. Quigley picked me up to go to church service. In Jin Nim's sermon was pretty inspiring. I missed the first part, so I was a little lost when she was referring to a story she told. Afterwards the church held a rally to support True Parents after the events with Hyun Jin Moon and the Kwak family were pretty deep. They spoke about absolute love, absolute faith, and absolute obedience- values that are crucial but not really expressed in the Western world. Also it seemed like the story of Cain and Abel along with the prodigal son story had present-day parallels. I'm not sure how things are going to turn out, but hopefully the church can be united once again.

2) After church, I had a video effects workshop. The guy who was suppose to teach was 15 minutes late, and then had to go home to get a cable so we didn't start until 45 minutes afterward! It was pretty interesting though. We went over AfterEffects and he spoke a bit about using the green screen. There's gonna be another workshop next week, so I think I'll be there for that too.

3) And then tonight some friends and I got together and went to Qdoba. It's kind of like Chipotle- burritos and other Mexican food- so it all tasted pretty good. Now I'm back to working on schoolwork. I have a choice of either working on math, extra credit for interaction arts, or get started on a leadership essay. I think I'll go with the math and then the other two. So, yeah, fun night ahead of me.

Bye now!!

Saturday Post

Here we are with yet another update!
Every time I try to use some spiffy intro, but now, I'll just jump into it.
Yeah, so let's go with the... BIG THREE!!

How should I start? Oh, last night, some friends and I saw The Lion King 3D!
It was pretty good. The 3D didn't add too much, but it was cool seeing it in
Theaters. There are so many little jokes I've missed out on in the past.
Or all the complexities of the animation that I never appreciated till now.
My one friend didn't remember the story, so she was shocked when Mufasa died.
It was a fun night overall.

Ending the fun today was just loads and loads of studying.
Love life while you can, cuz in college, the workload really ramps up!
Like I had to write a program in just 1's and 0's, along with writing algorithms.
It's a lot of work, but pretty interesting I suppose.
Excited that I'm done with all my school work for now, at least!

Today I also worked out at the ARC. That stands for
Athletic Recreation Center. The place is huge and they have so much equipment!
Now I'm really tired, but the good kind of tired.
And now I believe it's time to bed. I'm pretty tired and my arms are
Killing me! Alright, well, time for sleep. I just want to wish you
All a good night and update tomorrow! Bye now!!

The Fifteenth Day of the Ninth Month of the Two Thousand Eleventh Year

Another way of saying Thursday! Well, I did have some snazzy intro, but let's just get on with the- Say it with me!- BIG THREE!!

1) Yesterday it was raining. Bleh. And I left my umbrella in my room! In the morning, I went to a career and spoke with some people about possible internships. I looked at Shutterfly (photo company) and Ooyala (a video company), which really interested me. After the job fair, I got lunch and then went to my job training. I start this Monday, so I'll give an update with how that goes!

2) After my job training and class yesterday, I went to the art building and finished up my art project. I thought it turned out pretty well. But instead of me telling you, let me show you and you tell me what you think!

3) I got out of class early today so I was actually able to get dinner! And I'm really glad too, because we had the most amazing dessert ever! Flambe Bananas! It was a sundae with bananas, on fire! It tasted really good, I hope they make it again.

Until next time, bye now!!

Tuesday Haikus!

This intro's haiku.
I will update with Big Three.
Let's get on with it!

(1)
In leadership class,
We discussed the skills approach.
Leaders can be learned.

(2)
Then is ECE.
We went over control codes.
I understand now.

(3)
Had two art classes.
I'm all done with my projects!
Now, I'll get late night.

Hope you are real great!
I will update next Thursday.
Can't wait until then!

Sun's Day

Hello again! It is Sunday, er... Almost over with Sunday. And you know what that means? It means blog update, with the Big Three! So let's get this wagon train a rolling!! Aaaaaaaand, go!

1) Today was a work day. Seems to be a lot of those in college. I spent the afternoon working on my interaction art class, which was pretty fun. I've gotten much better with HTML and CSS. Just a little lesson in case you wanted to know. HTML is the backbone of internet webpages. It tells what content is placed where and whatnot. And then CSS is the complement which styles the information to make it look like the interesting sites we have now. Both go hand-in-hand to make up websites. So that's it with the little lesson of the day!

2) For dinner, some friends and I went off-campus to this Vietnamese restaurant and had pho. It's a noodle dish with meat on top in this really tasty broth. Afterwards we went grocery shopping and I got a couple snacks for my dorm. Writing this makes me hungry. I'm gonna get food after this!!

3) And number 3... Hm... Besides working and getting dinner, I didn't really do too much else today. Oh, I was able to talk with Mehdi. I told you how he came back to home, and now is living in Chicago, but we haven't had a chance to catch up with each others' lives, until last night. It's good to finally talk with him again. He seems to be doing well and plans to go to the Art Institute and then possibly transfer to the School of the Arts (with a much better program).

Anyway, all for now, I'll talk to you again this Tuesday. Bye!!

Saturn's Day

I was about to forget. I was about to hold this post off until tomorrow, but do you know what stopped me? I went onto Facebook and saw one of my readers online. For one of the few times Facebook has actually been helpful. If I had been on Google+, things might have been much differently. Well, without further contemplating alternate universes, let's get onto the... TRES LARGOS!!

Uno) Yo tengo una dia fantastico... Okay, I'm going to go back to English. Today was the Treehouse Society start of the year picnic! This afternoon I went onto the quad and we ate food and played games. Our first game was called Hamburger, and you have to get into groups of two if someone calls milkshake (one person is the cup, the other acts out a straw); three if they call french fries, four for hamburger, and five for cheeseburger. If ever you're caught without a group, you're out! After that we played Ninja. Which I'm sure, er... I hope you're heard of before! I'll show you next time I come home if you don't know it. And the next game we played was Sharks and Minos/tag. After that, everyone was pretty tired, so we just sat around and talked. Overall, it was a really fun afternoon!

2) For the rest of today I worked on homework. I got all my math and ECE and most of my interaction arts done. Not overly interesting, but pretty productive.

3) And lastly, tonight I did a workout. It felt really good, but now I'm feeling pretty sore...

Anyway, until tomorrow, bye now!!

Thor's Day

Hello, dear readers. We're back, and updating on time. Whoa! Craziness, I know! You better believe it! So, with all the fun and frillies out of the way, let's get on to the... Dun da da daaa!! BIG THREE!

1) Yesterday was the Engineering Study Abroad fair. I checked it out and got some info on Japan. Still need to figure a lot of stuff out (moneys!) but it would be awesome to spend a semester or year over there.

2) Last night was also the first Treehouse Society event. It was just an informational, meet-n-greet thing, but still great to see everyone again. We have our start of the year picnic this Saturday. I'll let you know how it goes on that post!

3) And today, as you know with my Tuesday and Thursdays is my busy busy day! I had Leadership- we talked about our core values and what is important to us. Character Counts tries to push forward the leading values in people. Then in ECE 190 we talked about the instruction set architecture of the LC-3. It wasn't so bad, but things are starting to pick up in the class. After that I had Interaction arts where we went over HTML and CSS (both mark up languages used to make websites), so that was cool. And in Time Arts we started stop motion films. My partner and I are doing a 2D, construction animation. We just made all the objects and characters today and will start filming on Monday/Tuesday.

Anyway, that's the run-through my day. Now I haven't gotten dinner yet so I'm getting late night. Bye now!!

Back! Some Things Don't Change.

Well, after being home for the weekend and not updating, we're back! And some things don't change, like my idea "I'll update at the end of the day, but then miss it until the following morning!" I'll work on that and Thursday's update will be sometime in the middle so I don't end up missing it. So, now that we got that stuff out of the way, ONTO THE BIG THREE!

1) I got back Monday night around 11:30. Had a couple things to finish up on for homework, but overall wasn't so bad. I realized I work a lot better in my dorm room than I do at home. I suppose that's since at home, I want to do so much stuff, whereas here, I just have to study/work. Either way, it was great being back for the weekend and able to see some of my readers in person!

2) Yesterday (Tuesday) was my busy day. I have two 80 minute classes and two 3 hour ones. The one good, kinda bad thing is in art classes, I'm completely on top of everything for the next week and a half. We started two projects and me and my partner are already pretty much done with it. So yay to that, not yay to sitting around for a while.

3) And then last night I had a workout. Just went downstairs to lift, so it wasn't that bad. I didn't work out all weekend, so it felt good to be back.

Alright, bye and see you next Thursday, on Thursday!!

Thursday, September 1, 2011

One More Day Until I Come Home For the Weekend!!

I believe the title says it all! Tomorrow I'm coming home for the weekend! And I know how most weekends come in the two-pack variety, but not this one! Three days off, three days on for awesomeness!! =D

So, don't you know, let's get a go, big three, yo!

1) Last night I worked out in the gym downstairs. And then for the rest of today my arms and legs were killing me. I originally intended to just spend half hour, but then another friend stopped by and we ended up lifting for an hour. It's a good kind of tired, but I'm still sore... And in related, tonight (Thursday night) I went for a run. It was only 5 miles or so, but the weather outside was pretty hot so it was kinda hard. I can't wait to go biking again though!

2) Today in ECE 190 we talked about memory (computer memory!) and finite state machines. I'm understanding it a lot more, and now this stuff is a lot more interesting- 11:11! By the way!- It's amazing how such complex systems are build from simple parts.

3) And tonight it was a friend's birthday. So we got him a cake and had a little celebration for him downstairs. Nice little break from the norm!

Well, good night and see you tomorrow!!

Tuesday, August 30, 2011

Tooz-dae!!

First, I would like to make a shout out to one of my avid readers out there. Today is her birthday, so I would just like to wish her the happiest of days! (It has also come to my attention that another reader of mine has a birthday today. So, Hitomi, happy birthday to you too!)

Haha, anyways, onto the Big Three! And this time, actually posted on time! Hoorah!!

1) Today is my busy day. In Leadership we again discussed the definition of leadership. We went over various roles and determined whether or not they are actually leaders (such as team captains, CEO's, gang leaders, managers, etc.) A lot of leadership is situational and depends on how they handle the relationship with followers. One key point to say is leaders promote effective change for a common goal, so a gang leader for example wouldn't be a leader since they promote violence and are often coercive against their followers. After Leadership class, I had ECE 190. We talked about MOSFETs (Metal Oxide Semiconductors Field Effect Transistors). And several applications of them, like building gates and circuits. After that was Interaction Arts, which was pretty fun since we went to the museum today to check out the exhibits and how they're presented. And last, but not least, was Time Arts. I finished all my animation projects early so just got to mess around with the program. It was pretty fun, but a long day.

2) Besides classes, I just spent a lot of time studying/doing homework. I'm on top of all my work for now, and just hoping it sticks that way!

3) Hm... What have I done besides classes and studying? Well, I worked out in the weight room last night. Not super interesting, but still good, I suppose. Hopefully more eventful-ness happens on Thursday. Anyways, bye now!! =D

Sunday (aka Weekend Part 2)

Hello! Sorry that this post is actually on Monday. One problem I have is I don't like writing my posts until the end of the day (so I talk about the entire day), but then comes late at night and I don't write it until the next morning. I suppose a better solution to that is just writing it midday and anything cool that happens at night will just be talked about in the next post. Again, sorry for being a day late on this. But looking on one of my readers blogs, she also posted on Monday for this Sunday blog. :)

Anyway though, let's get on with the... Da da da da!! Big Three!!

1) This morning and afternoon guess what I did? Studied and worked on homework! Wahoo! Actually it was not that bad. Worked on some math and then went over ECE, so it ended up being a pretty productive day in that sense.

2) For dinner tonight, a whole group of friends and I went out to Cravings, this Chinese restaurant. Well, we started out with about 15 people, but once we got to the intersection, everyone started to break apart. Some people said they wanted Chipotle, others said they wanted Noodles, and then me and a few others were still adamant on getting Cravings. It still ended up being a pretty good dinner, I just wish everyone would stick together for it!

3) Once we got back, I helped Dan move the rest of his stuff back in (he went to his condo in Chicago for the weekend). And then I worked on my art projects- animation and html projects. It was a pretty good night overall.

Well, look forward to you on Tuesday and actually ON Tuesday! Bye now!!

Finally the Weekend!! =)

Hello again dear readers! We bring ourselves to a Saturday, the first weekend after a week of classes! So with an update for yesterday and today, without further ado (or Abu if you're from Agrabah), let's go with the Big Three!!

1) On Friday, I only have two classes. The first one was programming studio which was pretty easy. We just went over the Linux interface and using the terminal. And then the second class was Intro to Discrete Mathematics, which again, was not that bad. We talked about functions from an abstract sense and about their various properties. Element A corresponds to element B and so on. Not so bad, but next Wednesday we have a quiz, so I'll study more beforehand.

2) This afternoon was a study afternoon. So I worked on homework in the North lounge. Not too interesting, but at least I got a lot done! =D

3) And this evening, a bunch of friends and I went to another friend's apartment and we had a sushi party! We bought tuna, shrimp, and crab along with some other vegetables. Then made rice and all rolled sushi together. It was really fun and all tasted really good! Though in the end, we overestimated a little how much we would eat and made a whole extra plate of sushi! Once I get home, we should make sushi!!

Alright, well that's it for the Big Three! Catch ya tomorrow for the next update!

Whew! Back from Class!

Alright, so my schedule for the most part is pretty nice. I only have one class on Monday and Wednesdays, which is amazing! But on Tuesday and Thursdays, I have four classes! Two of them are 80 minutes and the other are 150 minutes! But now I'm done for the day so it means I can start homework! Yahoo!! =D

[Before going on, please note the immense levels of sarcasm in that last sentence. Thank you.]

Okay, but honestly, I like my classes so it's all good. And without further side chatter, er... in this case, top chatter- onto the big three!

1) I almost overslept this morning! My class starts at 9:30. I woke up at 9:25. Luckily I got ready and got to class just in time! That just happened to be Intro to Leadership (which being late would give a really bad impression, moreso than other classes.) It was an interesting discussion/lecture today. We talked about the definition of a leader. The definition they provide is: a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. So, dear readers, keep that in mind and you're on the way of being a future leader!

2) My next class is ECE 190- Intro to Computing Systems. Today it was pretty easy, which is good if I want to try to stay on top of everything. We talked about binary (110101) and different ways for computers to interpret it. I'm understanding it a lot better! Hopefully it stays like this the whole year!

3) My last two classes are my art classes: Interaction and Time Arts. Both are really interesting. In Interaction, we talked about the Internet and started some HTML programming. And then in Time Arts we worked on After Effects animations. I really think I need some art/creative classes to complement my technical classes. Now that I've spent a lot of the afternoon working on stuff I really like, doing my ECE homework doesn't sound so bad. =)

Anyway, check in with you again this Saturday! Bye now!!

Post Before Bedtime!

Hello again readers! It's getting pretty late. I'm done with all the studying/homework I can do for now. I need to wait for one of my ordered books to arrive before I can do my math homework. But anyway, that doesn't mean I can't do a Big Three! So here we go!!

1) Yesterday I had things pretty easy, just one class: Basic Discrete Mathematics. While not my favorite, it was still interesting. We talked about different sets and basic number theory. Natural numbers are all positive integers (like 1,2,3). All integers are all whole numbers (like -3, 0, 5). All rational numbers are all numbers that can be put into a fraction (such as 3/5 and 7/88). And all real numbers encompasses all of those plus all irrational numbers (including pi!). Hope that all makes sense!

2) Today I had my leadership class, ece 190, time arts, and I'm taking another art class- Interactive Art. The leadership class was really fun, we did this game where we got into teams of five. Then had to use our bodies to act out some kind of appliance and the rest of the class had to guess what. It was a good exercise in team work! ECE 190 was the intro/syllabus day. We didn't get into too much yet, but I definitely want to stay on top of it. And then time arts started out to be pretty good. We are going to be using Adobe After Effects, so I have to learn how to do that. And then Interactive Art was also really cool. Both classes go into a possible Informatics Minor.

3) And last thing before I really go to bed. Tonight we had a floor meeting where I met everyone who's living with me. We did a Bingo ice breaker and then went over the Hendrick House rules. Oh! And Dan came back this morning, and tonight I finally saw him again!

Anyway, I'm really tired, so I'm going to go to bed. Good night, readers!!

Sunny Sundays

Hello dear readers! This is the actual blog post for Sunday! So onto the big three:

1) Last night there was a block party at the ARC (Athletic Recreation Center). It was pretty fun. They had games and prizes. It was like going back to the 4th of July festival only without the rides. Still though, it was fun to walk around with friends.

2) Today was Quad Day. That's the day when over 1000 student organizations gather on the quad to show what they're all about. It was a really great experience as a freshman; but lacked some of the initial charm now that I'm a sophomore. There were some clubs I'm interested in doing, but for the most part, I'm planning just to focus on academics this semester. I plan to do Informatics and Treehouse Society again though. So that should be fun! I'm looking forward to a good year.

3) Then tonight I went out to dinner to a Thai place. The food was pretty good, and surprisingly inexpensive! Tomorrow I start classes so this was a good way to finish up!

Well, I'm gonna go to bed and get ready for classes tomorrow, so good night!! =D

Getting back on schedule!

I am terribly sorry! I need to get back onto schedule with the blog posts. I will post one right now for yesterday and then one later tonight talking about today! One thing I need to do- going to do- did- is set the blog as my homepage. That way I won't forget to update! Anyway though, onto the Big Three for Saturday!

1) This is actually a thing that happened yesterday (i.e. Friday). A friend and I went to this afternoon workshop given by the Engineering professor- David Goldberg. He is usually not the most ecstatic speaker, but I actually got a lot out of his presentation. We talked about being good listeners who are actively asking questions about the other person. To make clear, explicit requests. And to ask engaging questions. An interesting point he brought up is when starting a question, the best word to start with is "What." I always figured it's "Why" because that delves into who the person is as a character, but the problem with "Why" is that puts the person in the defensive. And "What" compels them to speak an real answer.

2) Also Friday night, I went out to dinner with Brandon's parents. It was Brandon, his mom, his dad, Brian, Steve, and me. While sometimes awkward with his parents there, we ended up having a great night. His dad works with human computer interaction in making the Microsoft Kinect so we had an interesting conversation about that. Overall it was a good night.

3) Then today (Saturday), I was an ELA for the freshman engineering launch. So I had to greet, moderate, and help the freshmen. It was a pretty good launch, except somewhat long with numerous speakers.

That's all for now, and later I'll update with Sunday's post.

Just Like the Terminator: I'll be Back. And I am!

Hello to all my fellow and loyal readers! Though we were on an unextended hiatus, now we're back! With more blogs, more comments, and more Big Three's than ever before! So without further ado, let's hit off the fall semester with none other than the Big Three!!

1) I moved in on Wednesday. Ben drove me down and we had a pretty good trip! The only problem is we drove past the exit and had to turn around, but besides that, no problems. Moving in also went very smoothly. I'm actually pretty happy with my room! And I also realized I have a lot less stuff than I thought. I suppose it's good to travel lighter.

2) Yesterday (Thursday), I had some of the afternoon free, so I helped out as a Hauler. Basically, it was my and other people's job to help people move their stuff from their car to their rooms. It was kinda hard work, but at least I got a free shirt and lunch! =D

3) And finishing up the big three: last night I went out for Bubble Tea with some friends. It was really good except they ran out of tapioca pearls. It still tasted good, but just not the same... Haha, but still ended up being a fun night catching up with people.

Alright, again, sorry for this being a day late, but this is just the catalyst that will result in a great semester of updates galore. Good bye readers!!

Are you working now?

Sorry for the late reply on Thursday's post. Originally the site was down and then I was super busy and did not have access to a computer. I'll definitely buy one of my reader's a treat of some sort. Anyway though, onto the Big Three.

1) I took my very last final yesterday morning. It was in Calc II. I actually thought it wasn't too bad, I think I did pretty well.

2) This was my very last day of college. After my test, I got lunch (HH was serving smoothies!!), started packing, had a meeting with my leadership coach, and then hung out with friends for most of the evening. At night we went one last trip to IHOP, so that was really fun. Hopefully I can still see a couple people this morning before I head out.

3) It was Friday the Thirteenth and I HATE that day. I was having the worst luck ever. Some friends and I were playing poker for fun and I didn't win a single hand. Afterwards we played Monopoly. And you know those two Chance/Community-chest cards that say "Pay X amount for each house and hotel you own."? Well, I got both of those... Right after another. Yeah, at least we're over that cursed un-holiday.

And now I get to go back home. Just a few more hours and then I'll be back!! Whoa!! I'll be seeing some of you reader(s) real soon!!

Bluh-awg Pohst Ell-eh-vuhn

Alright, how it usually works with these blog posts is we talk about three events that happened that day (or the previous day). And I'm still planning to do that, but this time, there's a clear stepping scale from terrible to awesome. So, for the moment we've all been waiting for, onto the Big Three!!

1) Last night I had my ECE 190 final exam. To put it bluntly, it was the hardest test I've ever taken in my life. On my white board, I clock in the hours I put in to study for each class. For this, I logged 28 hours of studying, but that still didn't prepare me for what they had to throw at me. The only thing I'm hoping for is partial credit and a nice curve. Everyone else in the class thought it was really tough too, so at least that's a fairly good sign... I'm not alone. I just really hope I do well in this class. Fingers crossed.

2) Now usually after a hard test, I like to have a little time to unwind and relax. But lo and behold, I had another test nine hours later. So I got my physics stuff and studied from 11 until 3 in the morning. My test was at 8 am, so I wanted to at least get a couple hours of sleep. But I couldn't sleep until 4 am. A mix of caffeine and anxiety of the previous and next test were keeping me up. Eventually I went to sleep, but my alarm clock woke me up way too early (7 am to be exact). I got some breakfast and, was going for more coffee, but opted for hot cocoa instead. Thankfully, this test went WAY better than the night before. I actually think I did pretty well on it. So yay!

3) And the third event. Most awesome. I got a 3DS!! Hendrick House had a raffle with all proceeds going to Japan Relief. It is so awesome. I have to show you once I get back!!

Anyway though, you thought studying was over, but no way! Here comes Calculus II studying for a test this Friday!! More studying ahoy!!

Sunday, May 8, 2011

I've done 1010 posts! ("10" in binary!!)

Hey, reader(s)!! Hope you all are doing well. This is a special double post day! (Also due to not updating yesterday, so to make it up, two blogs!!)

Are you ready for it? Then here it comes! The Big- not one... not two... But the BIG THREE!! Boom!!

1) I woke up at 8:30 this morning and do you know what I did when I woke up? I'll give you a hint. It starts with an "S" and rhymes with Tudy... No, wait, that would be pronounced toody... Or not... it could be Tudy. Either way, I hit the books/computer and learned more programming.

2) I went for a run with Steve, the first one since the marathon. My legs were actually feeling pretty tired. I still need a bit more to fully recover, but at least it's not as bad as right after the marathon. We did four miles, but instead of picking a predetermined route, we did a random run throughout campus.

3) This is the last Sunday I'll be on campus, so my friends and I went to this Chinese restaurant- Golden Harbor. It was really cool because it was family style. We went with a group of ten so even when we ordered a lot of food, it ended up being really cheap for each of us.

This will be the last week of my college Freshman year. Also happens to be Finals week. So wish me luck, and hopefully I survive on the other side.

SOOOOOOOO sorry!! (Post Nein!!)

I'm really sorry for not updating yesterday. Over the past few days, I've just been studying and lost track of the day. I'll do a double update for yesterday (saturday) and today (sunday!).

So yesterday was Saturday, (and Sunday comes afterwards). Without further ado, onto Los Tres Largos (The Big Three)!!

1)Over the afternoon, I studied. Then studied some more, and more, and then some more... Yeah, finals have SO much studying...

2) Saturday evening Steve, Dan, Mike, and I went to the pool. It was really tiring swimming laps, but felt good to exercise again.

3) Last night, I went to a friend's for movie night and saw Ferris Beuller's Day Off. It was actually the first time I saw the whole movie from start to finish. All the time in high school, when gym was cancelled, we would start the movie and never finish. And on TV, I would catch the very end, but I never connected the dots. But now I've seen it so yaya!! =D

Okay, I'll do one more update and then BACK TO STUDYING!!

Thursday, May 5, 2011

Eight's Not Late! (Actually it's kinda early)

Heya, so if you picture my day as a sandwich, studying would be the bread. And this blogpost will be the inner-good-stuff. I'm not sure if that's the best image right here, but my point is I spent about 6 hours today studying and after this post, I'm gonna spend a bunch more!!

So without further ado, let's go onto the tres largo!!

1) Happy Cinco de Mayo! Today at Hendrick House, they had Mexican food in commemoration of the holiday. It was really good. There were nachos and a cheesy, quesadilla roll. Towards the end of the year, HH bumps up the food quality big time (mostly due to finals, and they take people's recommendations. Last night we had steak!!)

2) Alright, so this morning I woke up around 9 and jumped into ECE/Programming studying. I'm not entirely proficient, but I'm feeling a lot better with pointers now. Hopefully I can get it all by the test this monday! Fingers crossed!!

3) I also went to the library this afternoon. I returned a bunch of books I checked out throughout the year and studied for a few hours there. It's a really cool (but crowded) place to go.

Alright, that's all for today. Now back to the ol' grind. STUDY! TUDYS! UDYST! DYSTU! YSTUD! STUDY!!

Do you know why seven is so lucky?

Joke answer: Because seven is most powerful! Seven ate nine!!

For real answer: When rolling two dice, seven is most likely to come up. (Along with a bunch of other historical instances of seven.)

Haha, okay, anyways, onto the big three!!

1) I woke up and went to my last class of my freshman college year! It was pretty cool too! My physics teacher showed an extremely powerful air cannon and pressure differentials with water pipes.

2) I studied physics, some calc, and ece. Finals are coming up so I have to do a LOT of studying... Ahh!!!

3) Went to the quad today and drew Pokemon with chalk. =D

Well, short little bloggie-bites (a.k.a. "tweets") for today. And now, back to studying! Bye!!

Mix-slix-six

Alright, bloggo-numba-six coming atcha!!

Thus wraps up the weekend, so let's jump right into the pool of the big three!

1) This afternoon I went with a friend to the Arboretum to study so that was pretty fun. Turns out it was a lot colder outside than it looked, so we only stayed an hour or so, but still I got quite a bit of work done.

2) I went with a group of friends to Cravings- a Chinese restaurant just down Green St. They go there often, but I often miss Sunday dinner with them. It has been over two months since I've last gone to Cravings and I've been having a craving for it. After craving a craving for Cravings, it was very satisfying to have this craved craving un-craved. (If that makes any sense).

3) I worked on an animation for my art class. I used a friend's song, but lacked some inspiration of what visuals should accompany it. So I did random, albeit interesting, visuals. Hopefully it turns out right, I'll post the finished cartoon once it's complete.

And now, without further ado, I'm going to bed. Good night, dear reader(s)!!

Saturday, April 30, 2011

High Five!!

Alright, I'm just gonna update my blog NOW as opposed to risking oversleeping and missing today. I really only had one major event today- but it's a really big one!! I ran the marathon!

1) I ran the marathon!! I know I just said that but I have to reiterate my excitement. I finished with a time of 4:36, which hasn't broke 4 hours but I'm still really dang happy!! So let's go thru it. The race started at 7, but I woke up at 5:30. I started the day by playing Marathon by Rush. Then I showered and ate some breakfast. At 6:30, Steve picked up Chris who was going to drive his car after we got to the starting. There were SO many people running. We had to separate based on predicted finishing time, so being optimistic, I went with the four hour pacers. And we were off!

The first few miles were really fun. We ran down major streets that the police blocked off- something I could never do, at least not legally. Haha. I found two people to run with, Hannah and Hannah. So we stuck together for the first 8-9 miles or so. But then Hannah had a stress fracture so she and her friend went to the medic tent and I carried on by myself. Things went really well for the next few miles as well. We went thru a nature preserve so that was really cool. Then all the marathon runners split off from the half-marathoners.

From that point on I knew I had to do the full 26.2 miles. It was somewhat of a commitment (although it was kinda a commitment ever since I decided to run those many months back.) From then on, things went pretty well. I did the half marathon at 2 hours exactly so I was right in line to complete my goal. But around mile 17-18, my legs started to tighten and cramp up. I had to walk intermittently and reached a point where I knew I wouldn't break 4. I decided instead of focusing on that goal, just to finish. It got really bad when I ran into Hannah and Hannah again. I tried to keep up with them, but couldn't. I ignored everything else and just focussed on finishing.

This was perhaps the worst physical (and mental) pain I have ever willingly gone through. I felt Charlie Horses in both my legs, but was determined to go on. After the 24 mile mark, the finish was so close I could taste it. I had one more walk up a hill, but vowed to finish the last mile running.

And after much excruciating pain, I entered the stadium. Everyone was cheering as I crossed the finish. It was like something straight out of the movies. Steve ran up and gave me a big hug as another lady gave me my medal. It was so painful, but this accomplishment was worth it. Years down the road, I'll always remember 2011 for running the marathon.

2) My family also came down to see me run (but I'm guessing if you're my sole, intended reader, you already know that.) it was really amazing to see their love and support as I went through this. I'm really amazed (sorry to use that word again but my vocabulary is tired...) to find out the first time they saw me was through crazy, random happenstance. I hope they had fun at the arboretum/Japan house and have a safe trip back!!

3) Now, dear reader, I'm going to take a nap. I'm dead tired, but really wanted to make this update (which, mind you took way longer than 2 seconds. It might have to do with the fact that I typed this on my iPod, but either way, good night!!)

Four Galore!!

Okay, first, I apologize for this post being a day late. However, the rule we agreed on was it would still count if we did all the updates before the week was up. So this would still count.

Well, with that bit of litigation out of the way, let's just go onto the Big Three.

  1. I had my last art studio on Wednesday. We finished our painting projects and started our time-based (i.e. animation) project. I'm really looking forward to doing that, but now that I can, I'm not entirely sure what to animate. A friend gave me a song that's roughly a minute long so I'll be working with that, but I need something really creative to go along with it visually. And then Thursday morning I had my last art lecture. We went over our year and filled out ICES forms (where we grade the teachers on how they've done.)
  2. In ECE 190, we had a lecture on scientific computing which was pretty interesting. But none of it will be on the final, so I mostly listened as opposed to taking notes. It's really amazing how far computers have gone and where they're going!!
  3. And the last thing is actually the reason why I have such a late update. Last night after studying and all my classes, I went to a friend's and we saw Ratatouille and that ended up going to past midnight. For that, I'm sorry and I'll really try not to let it happen again!!
Regardless though, hope you have a really great day on Friday! Friday! Gotta get down on Friday! Everyone's looking forward to the weekend! Weekend!! (Darn you Rebecca Black and getting a terrible, albeit catchy song stuck in my head!!)

There's Only Two Posts in Me, and I Just Wrote a Third

Props if you know what that title is a reference to. =)

Anyway, I'm doing pretty good. Back in the swing of college life. I just spent the last three hours programming, and going back to it after this post.

So in honor of blog three, what will I do? I know! I'll post the big three of the day!

  1. I had physics this morning and we used a strobe light on a standing wave. Needless to say, it was pretty cool!
  2. This afternoon I went to ECE 190 lecture (C programming) and learned more how to use linked lists and other applications.
  3. And the third big thing? Hm... Well, I'm gonna go for a run in a bit, which- I suppose will still be in this day.
Alright, and as of this post, a certain little sister (HITOMI) still hasn't commented on my last blog! I can't believe I'm more on top of this than her. Either way, I'm looking forward to her post today on her field trip. Shugout.

Two, dos, ni, ee, [other language variant of 2]

Oh, just thought of one more. 10. Props if you know what language that two is in!

Breaking news, wifi on the bus is sw to the eet! (sw + eet = sweet!!) So you know that blog post you were expecting at 11:30 or so? Bam! Coming right now!

Anyway, on the bus going back to my home away from home. And without further ado, let's go onto the big three!

  1. Today was Easter! So to celebrate, the family drove to Grandma's. It was really great to see the whole family there and catch up with Grandma and the Farrells.
  2. We went for a walk around Grandma's condo. The weather was absolutely amazing today. Truly a great day to be outside.
  3. And lastly, I had a good talk with Mom. So it was great to be back this weekend.
As of this writing, a certain little sister who shall not be named has not written her blog post for Sunday. Get on it, Tomi! So now I'm going to work on my art paper, listen to music and podcasts, sleep, eat snacks, and play games (not necessarily in that order). So from all of us to all of you, good bye!!

Saturday, April 23, 2011

Hello, world!

Back home for Easter weekend! The big three of the day are:
  1. Drove around with Mom and for car shopping. They eventually settled on a Nissan Versa!
  2. Went on a bike ride with the best little sister in the world! (We took a blast to the past and checked out her old elementary school- Dooley!
  3. And last but not least, went to Easter service at Willow Creek tonight. Snap!
Alright, so the general gist of this blog is updating consistently several times a week with the top three things that happened that day. As a way to connect with others and self-reflect on life, let's all hope this goes well! Cheers!
